When you meet the love of your life through the drama society at your university, it’s only fitting to get married in your local theatre. That’s exactly what Jack and Phoebe did last weekend, at the Lantern Theatre in Sheffield. With friends and family joining them from all over the globe, their colourful, stylish wedding was a glowing gathering on an overcast, February day.

The Ceremony

The legal ceremony was done and dusted before their wedding day, so a friend guided them through a personal ceremony, with other friends performing songs, and Jack’s nan reciting a poem she’d composed just for the occasion (in which she cheekily confessed to her desire to become a great grandma, and begged them to hop to it). The personal nature of the ceremony felt much more inclusive for those who attended. Ceremonies are often quite emotional, but this was a biggie! Just check out the reaction shots throughout - they tell a story of their own.

The Reception

After the Lantern it was on to The Mowbray, which is possibly my all-time favourite Sheffield wedding venue. The lighting is beautiful, the long wooden table just make perfect sense, it’s the epitome of industrial cool, and the food is always superb. All of which pales in comparison to how wonderful the staff are! They’ll bend over backwards to make sure a wedding day goes without a hitch, and if a hitch does happen they handle it with grace. So what better place to continue the celebrations? Heartfelt speeches, an absolutely cracking band (think modern classics with a soulful twist, and a hefty slice of electric guitar) and everything you needed for a brilliant party.
